INCREDIBLE WEEKEND!!

Our weekend started with a trip to the Adirondacks for the Wood/Tripp wedding at a family estate...a beautiful setting for a wonderful wedding...Kevin shown below with the happy bride and groom at the end of the reception!

Saturday took us to somewhere we would have thought differently about just hearing the name Cicero American Legion BUT what a surprise!
The place is INCREDIBLE...better than a lot of high end hotel and reception venues I have seen...The food was impeccable and room immaculate

We did the monogram projection of the bride and grooms initials on the wall seen below

We also did our famous up lighting to enhance the stage area:

The Management asked if we were available for New Years Eve and will be recommending us to futture bride and grooms...comments from the staff were - "I have never heard such an incredible sound before", and "I Have never seen anything like you did"
We hope to be back there in the future....
Here below is the bride and groom at the end of the night...so happy..a great party!

On a footnote..I was looking forward to the possibility of seeing Janet Jackson in concert at the Turning Stone but she cancelled....ah well !

What a great experience and the dishes were beyond superb!
My good friends Pascal Catering delivered the best!

Saturday October 4th 2008

Another fun filled weekend!
Saturday took us to The Hotel Syracuse - Home of Pascal Catering - great to work with Pascal's again, having worked with them on so many events over the years and thanking them for recommending our service to so many clients!
A Bat Mitzvah for Raechel was the order of the day, and we supplied up ligting as you can see on the stage in the picture below, and a huge video screen, which we provded and produced a video montage of Raechel's life!
We now produce 'in house' montage video's ourselves, and demand for wedding montages is ever increasing with 4 new montages in production this week alone!

The dance floor was packed all night helped by costume changes and motivation by our KEvin Colangelo Premiere Disc Jockey dancers shown here in 1970's gear !

We thank Raechel and her family for allowing us to share their special day!

We are recognized as the leading service in Syracuse and surrounding places like Rochester, Buffalo, Binghamton and Albany for Bat and Bar Mitzvahs with a full calender for 2009 and 6 dates in 2010 and one for 2011 already!
JUST RECEIVED FROM CLIENT
First, Kevin Colangelo is a professional through and through.
The depth of character and experience that he brings to the occasion are beyond compare. What is even more surprising given that he has been doing this so many years, is that he made me feel like I was the only bat mitzvah he had ever done. He listened to me, he was thoughtful and compassionate and worked so very hard to create a meaningful experience for me and my family from the very beginning. For such a busy person he was very dependable and reliable with his follow up calls. It was not necessary to baby sit him and constantly check up to see how things were progressing.
He promised a top grade product and he delivered that and more.I felt privileged to have him be our DJ and master of ceremonies.
I feel grateful for the thought and effort he brought to the occasion. I didn't have to worry about even the smallest detail - he thought of everything.
He was careful and surveyed the site prior to the event even though he has worked there on many occasions. He did not take even the smallest risk of spoiling our event. We worked and planned this occasion for two years. I only needed a few phone calls with Kevin for arrangements because he was so knowledgeable and efficient.
His attention to every detail both technical and emotional allowed me to be free of any concerns regarding his end of the deal and responsibilities. He delivered a first rate experience and all the guests commented on how well the kids behaved. That was due in large part to Kevin's brilliant orchestration and thoughtfulness regarding their interests and needs. We had over 100 kids - same number of adults so I think his achievement is even more impressive.
He even went so far as to be so thoughtful and sensitive to my very close friend's child who has social difficulties.
I asked Kevin if he could allow this child to observe the technical aspects of the event. Kevin was receptive to my request and went well beyond the call of duty. This child (age 11) had the time of his life and his parents and grandparents glowed the entire time - not only did his act of kindness change one life but the after effects will live on as evidenced by the pictures that his mother so proudly sent to me today.
My friend whose daughter had a bat mitzvah several years ago summed it up best, she said, if she had had ten children she would have worked with Kevin Colangelo ten times.
I am a clinical psychologist by training and I can not emphasize how intuitive and sensitive Kevin was to our emotional needs regarding this event.
Sincerely, Lesley Teitelbaum

September 26th and September 27th

What another busy weekend of events for Kevin Colangelo Premiere Disc Jockeys LLC!!
After recovering from the sensational news that we were selected to supply Disc Jockeys for the current MADONNA tour for thier VIP lounge pre show events at each Madoona concert, we surged forward with another vast amount of weekend events:
I personally was back at BELHURST CASTLE on Friday 26th September, having been there for the past 8 years with many wedddings there completed and under my belt - it was nice to see Carmen again the wedding coordinator and her excellent staff who always do a great job!
I also worked with my very good friend Neil Cowley and his wife Liesel Cowley - renowned as the very top wedding photographers in their class - below a photograph of us at the wedding !

We used our UP LIGHTING to full effect in the Castle Ballroom on Friday - we started at 5pm and ended the incredible party at 12-30am !!

We are looking forward to returning to Belhurst again shortly!
Saturday I was up early at 8am after returning home at 3am from Belhurst!
Off to set up for a Bar Mitzvah at Cazenovia Tennis Club for a 1pm start!
(I forgot to take my camera hence no shots!)
After completing the Bar Mitzvah I headed for the incredible Traditions at Links in Fayetteville Syracuse where my road crew had set up the main system in the afternoon, and arrived 1 hour prior to cocktail hour!

There were about 300 people in attendance for this incredible wedding!
As you can see by the dancefloor - it was packed all night!
Picture below shows the dinner hour - a superb 3 course meal was in store!

People were still waiting for buses to collect them about 2 hours after the end of the reception!

We did our famour special intro for the bride and groom and a special first dance mix for their first dance....Thomas and Jennifer stole the show!
It was nice to meet other vendors and chat about a lot of things - Video Memories and the incredible Alter Image Photography crew!
It seems there is a lot of news going around the area lately - so it was a great opportunity for me to give my input.
What a pleasure to be selected by Thomas and Jennifer and Traditionas at the Links as their entertainment for their wedding!
More cominng soon!!!
Kevin Colangelo
......PS
There is no rest on the horizon ...this weekend I am at Hotel Syracuse in the Persian Terrace doing a very elaborate Bat Mitzvah with Video Screens, Up lighting, special effects, tivoli lighting, and photo booth - YES we now have our very own PHOTO BOOTH for hire for your wedding, or any event!

Amazing Weekend back at Casa Larga!

Jason and Kathy were married on 9/20/08 at the wonderful Casa Larga in Rochester:

Below you can see photographs of the reception - we did a ceremony and reception at Casa Larga last Saturday - so 2 weeks in a row at Casa Larga!!

It was a mixed crowd of American and Thai guests, so we had to play some Laotion music which went over incredibly well!

We used our 'famous' up lighting to accent the room, and our high tech moving head lights and LED effects for dancing;

I don't think I have ever gave out so many business cards at one reception than were requested on Saturday night by guests!

We were asked to go an extra hour and finished at 1am after arriving at the venue for load in, and preperations at 1pm that day..not arriving back home until 5am in Syracuse!

Wedding Video!!

Here is an example of a wedding I did in Upstate NY, Danielle's in New Hartford - this was near the end of the reception!

I make sure your guests stay until the end and not leave after dinner, and are bored even if they do stay!

Remember the music you hear is what the client wanted on their day, therefore if you do not like a song you hear that you would not have at your reception, then use this as a guide - every wedding is different and normally we play a vast majority of different era's and types of music depending on the information given by the client and the planning process before the reception..luckily we do not play the chicken dance or hokey pokey...only on the odd occasion where the client specifically asks for it to be played...as you can see by the video, - ALL ages are dancing even Grandmothers and small children.....a testamment to our experience...

Casa Larga Vineyards, Rochester Saturday September 13th

What a splendid and wonderful location for your wedding reception!

We had the pleasure of being the selected entertainment for Matt and Laura Nespoli at this excellent venue yesterday Saturday September 13th 2008:

We highlighted many parts of the room using our UP LIGHTING seen in the pictures here, and it really enhanced the room effect in so much that Casa Larga may be interested in installing their own up lighting!

Believe it or not we are actually back at Casa Larga next Saturday for another reception!

Also the management and staff are excellent to work with and the food and entire experience great - top notch!
In the pictures you can see myself with the Manager of Casa Larga and some pictures on the night which was a culmination of a long day - we started the ceremony at 5-30pm and the reception followed ending at 1 AM in the morning - yes 1 AM !

We look forward to a long and continued relationship with Casa Lagra!

Preperations

Preparing for another busy weekend - 7 weddings - with myself on Saturday and Sunday this weekend again!
Just finishing our UP LIGHTING and stage lighting installation at Carey Lake this week too!
We are overwhelmed with inquiries for 2009 and recently met with clients for a wedding in Oswego in 2010 and last night I was at the IMMACULATE Mansion on Delaware in Buffalo meeting clients for their wedding next year!!!
The client wanted a 2 floor experience with dining upstairs and dancing in the lower level Manhattan style - we are using 14 up lighters and our incredible NEW tivoli light system for the dance floor.....it will catch on soon!
We are using 4 Plasma TV's one in each corner of the lower room, and the whole room will be candle light and our up lighting experience:
We are the proud leaders in this field and have broken barriers and cut through ice with our innovative idea's which have been copied but never equaled...:)
Next week I visit a client for a wedding at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City !!
I was referred to the client by a grandfather who attended a wedding I did in NYC about 18 months ago:
With all the high end competition and excellent DJs in New York City - it is a pleasure and a private to be honored with being able to be alongside the best DJ's. although I have never said I was the best or do I think I am...I have always said..I am just me - a DJ:
Some have talent and some do not, after 38 years in the business around the world, on radio, TV and in Theater as well as many top Nightclubs across Europe and the Far East, I have gained such great experience and idea's which I am now able to pass onto my clients:
As my good friend Neil Cowley - renowned photographer always says......its not what you think you are or think you can do, but the way you do it and what the result is that matters:
Off to bed for a few hours then meetings with new clients tomorrow, off to Carey Lake and then back for two weddings this weekend!
A packed week next week with meetings every day!

Hello Kevin,
We are back from our honeymoon in Kauai - a little tired and more than a little sunburned! But we had a wonderful time!
I can't thank you enough for all of your help and for your professionalism. From the moment we first contacted you it was obvious that you had our best interests at heart and that your goal was to help make everything perfect.
And you did just that! You kept us on track and informed all the way through the wedding and you did it in such a stress-free way.
You helped make the day for us and we could really tell just how very much you cared!

Amazing Weekend !

We had the enviable task of visitng Bridge Water Manor in New Jersey on friday for the wedding of a beautiful couple !
Picture below shows our set up for the wedding using our UP LIGHTING to full effect

We arrived home saturday morning 6am !
Then it was off to Traditons at Links in Syracuse wo work with my good friend Kim the Manager of Traditions - Kim and I have known each other for many many years and done so many events together - thank you Kim for recommending us to so many clients!

I joined our Team 2 for the Silverman Bat Mitzvah bumping into another 2 old friends - great vendors - Mike from Video Memories and David Moore Photographer - I thank both for the kind words said about our service!
The party was incredible and the decor by Frank Bryce - incredible job Frank!
Then I left for Binghamton to join my set up crew and dancers at Terra Cotta for the Gunzenhouser Bar Mitzvah:

My good friends at Terra Cotta who recommend us a lot to clients were more than accomadating as usual and the food out of this world!
Pictures below of the INCREDIBLE party - we were asked to play an extra hour!
As you can see by the picture below our lighting effects are unsurpassed in the area and we only use the best uplighting modules which make other lighting of this kind look inferior:

Email JUST received from Monique from the Bar Mitzvah :

Kevin Colangelo Premiere Disc Jockeys was the first service to offer up lighting to clients and continues to lead the field - many times copied but never equaled:
We also have a huge demand for name in lights - this is where we have a projected effect of the bride and grooms initials or names on a space or dance floor :
another busy weekend coming up with more weddings on friday, saturday and sunday and this week we install new lighting at Carey Lake !
Then on Thursday I travel to Buffalo to meet with a client looking for up lighting and two level configuration of sound in a dining area and dancing in another and wants a club like atmosphere downstairs with up lighting and dining and a different ambience upstairs for her wedding reception!

Wedding Review 8/17/08

Kevin Colangelo was a complete blast to have at my wedding, I had a smaller wedding ~100 people and the age ranges varied impecably, kevin colangelo was able to have everybody up and dancing the entire night! Everyone after the wedding said that they had the best time they had ever had at a wedding reception. The DJ even knew that when one of my husbands friends who caught the garter was a little too much for my 18 year old cousin without saying a word or missing a beat he reversed it so that my cousin put the garter on him for the evening, it went well and I couldn't have been more pleased. I highly recommend kevin colangelo premier dj's I couldn't have wanted anything more on the most important day of my life... ~ Dr. Jennifer Gorenflo

Kevin Gives Back............

I had the pleasure of doing a talk, interaction and general entertainment to The Oaks residents of Dewitt tonight:

The Oaks is a retirement center with built in apartment living for people who wish to retire and live within a community:

I would guess the ages range from 50 upwards into the 90's!

I arrived and set up a small sound system tonight under the directorship of Janice Martin the Entertainment and activity's Director and proceeded to first talk about my life and intermix that with a world quiz, sing along and many questions and answers from the residents:
Every Wednesday and Thursday there is entertainment for the residents:

I was asked if I was available and what my fee would be - I gladly jumped at the opportunity and said there would be NO FEE!
Janice said I must be paid as all the other Entertainment is paid - I demanded no payment and asked that anything I would have been paid be donated to a charity:
It was a privilege and pleasure to mix and mingle with people of vast different back grounds and interesting lives...the pleasure was all mine to 'give back' to society:
THANK YOU to the OAKS!

Kevin Colangelo Premiere Disc Jockeys selected as installation company and in house DJ Service!

What a great pleasure to meet Bruce Carey or Carey Lake in Macedon NY and work together at his EXCELLENT facility!
After talking with Bruce we have been asked to install LED lighting, and stage lighting at Carey Lake which we are thrilled to have been selected to do!
The refurbishment will take about 2 days:
We will be installing under bar LED lighting, Stage lighting, up lighting for the stage and installing a huge mirror ball and different lighting in the main Victorian ballroom:

We will also be the 'in house' DJ Service for Carey Lake:
Plans are afoot for installation of a in house sound system, which we will be using 4 sub units, and four JBL high packs in a permanent fixture setting:

Bruce and I have become very good friends in a short amount of time and I feel like I have known him all my life!
Bruce delivers the utmost in customer service and his facility is one of THE best of its kind I have seen - SILVER tea pots and CRYSTAL glasses on the tables!...AMAZING !

And the gardens are to die for - all rose bushes and thousands of beautiful flower beds topped off with a view of the lake he purposely built!
This little known facility will be well known very shortly as we are helping to market Carey Lake and get the name out - this venue is a MUST see for all couples looking for everything and more in a reception venue!

wedding review JUST IN !!!

Amy Shaw
Wedding Reception 08.02.08
Syracuse University Sheraton Hotel - Syracuse New York

We would recommend Kevin to anyone who is planning their wedding. He helped in all aspects of our planning process, and his insight and experience was an incredible asset. Our reception was exactly how we had hoped that it would be! The dance floor was packed all night, and hardly anyone remained in their seat. He played the right music at the right time, and was able to accommodate our guests' taste all throughout the night!
Everyone commented on how phenomenal the DJ was, and it made it worth every cent! Thank you Kevin and Co. for making our wedding reception everything that we dreamed it would be and more!!

Thank You from a client!!!

Russell was the DJ for my daughter's wedding reception. He was fantastic and accommodated our every request. Russell was the best! A professional who done a wonderful job! I was so happy that it all worked out perfect on such short notice, because I only acquired the services of Kevin Colangelo a little over a week before the reception. I am very satisfied with all people involved (Crystal James, from customer service, and Russell ) for helping me and my daughter pull it all together so quickly because of the time factor. Would definitely recommend Kevin Colangelo Premiere Disc Jockeys to everyone needing a DJ! Thanks for making a special moment in our lives even more enjoyable!
Yes, you may use my comments. Thanks again to you all! Your services were greatly appreciated!
A very satisfied customer,

AMAZING WEEKEND!

We had an amazing weekend with a wedding on Thursday at Wysocki's in Cicero - thanks to Jim and the Staff at Wysocki's for an amazing time and it was great to talk to Jim about supplying up lighting for Wysocki's to use themselves - Jim was very impressed with our sweet heart and cake table up lighting

Saturday took us North to Watertown for an amazing wedding too!
Pictures of our up lighting at both events and other photographs below!
It is great for our potential clients to actually see our up lighting in photographs freely on this blog - it actually proves we have them and do the job well beyond anyone's expectations - note:Be careful when asking about up lighting as some DJ Services say they have them but actually do not or do not know how to set them up properly for the best effect or use inferior cheap imitations:Like we always say - If you cannot see it - don't believe it" and if you read it - don't always believe it - make sure you ALWAYS see it for yourself first!

Feedback from august 2nd wedding reception

Hi Kevin,

I wanted to thank you SOOOO much for everything you did. The wedding was perfect and I have you to thank for that. I am just about to head out to the port to board our cruise ship but as soon as we return I will fill out the survey. I wanted to know if you could email me the processional for the girls, the instrumental of "beautiful day" or if by chance you offer the service of putting most of our wedding music on a cd for keepsake. There would be no hurry but Mike and I were thinking we wanted somthing like that and if you don't if we can get that song we can try to put it together. Let me know, and thank you again. Your are wonderful!!!

A few pictures from the wedding showing the Bride and Groom introduction, highlighting the cake table using our high tech lighting effects
Picture below shows our lighting on the cake
Picture below shows our lighting on the sweetheart table
Email received from the photographer
I must say in 564 weddings I've never seen a dj show like what you did. Ever. That's a good thing. Done very well. All the black really hides you and doesn't look like your trying to be the show. How you did your lighting, bubles, sound and MC you put the bride and groom first. Made them feel special. I got chills when you did the intro.
You would have loved, and done great job at a wedding I did at Joey's in 1000 Island early this summer. The owners son was the groom. I think they had 200 guests ready to dance. The dj did a good job, but your set up would have been wild. I'm sure you do a lot of gigs.

Another weekend of great events!

This past weekend I did 2 weddings - one on Saturday in Clayton NY - great couple and great wedding wih so many compliments:

Sunday took us to Beardslee Castle in Little Falls where we do about 40 weddings a year and they highly recommend our service to brides:

Here is the email received from the mother of the bride:
Good Morning Kevin,

Well, the kids left yesterday to go back to South Carolina. So, it's pretty quiet and lonely here now. But, it's something I guess I will have to get use to. You were so fantastic!!!!!!!!!! The kids were so impressed with you and your style. People were going up to Tom and telling him how much they loved you. I had no idea how elaborate everything was going to be. You have the right to be proud of what you do. You are very impressive. But most of all, you are such a sweetheart! I can't thank you enough!. What you did for those kids and for me is beyond words. I know you are very busy, but I hope to hear from you. It would be wonderful to stay in touch. Again, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Email received from the Bride and Groom at Beardslee Castle
Hey Kevin,
I just wanted to thank you again for the amazing job that you all did for our wedding, you help make our moment amazing!!!! You were great and I will definitely keep you in mind for anyone that would be looking for a DJ. I was extremely happy with the way the ceremony and the reception turned out, thank you.
Love,
Tom and Lindsey Baire

WEDDING TIP OF THE DAY

Introductions can be a daunting task for any disc jockey as introducing many people, parents, grand parents, bridal party etc have sometimes tricky names so when you hire a professional MC-DJ you expect him to get it right!
There is nothing worse than hearing a name mispronounced right?
This is why you hire a professional MC to announce this properly:
Just a opinion - I read somewhere that some DJs think its a good idea to have you - yes you the bride and groom pre record introductions and then he plays the pre recorded introductions at your wedding making it personal - I think he is skipping his responsibilities and passing the responsibility to you - the MC is the person that does the introductions - that is what your paying him for right?
Would you mind if the caterer asked YOU to serve the salad course because it would make it more personal?
Same thing!

I am not discounting the idea, but personally think its not a good idea:

What happens on the night of the wedding when earlier in the day one of the bridal party drops out or is ill and there are changes?
Pre recorded?
No ambience and now problems as the bridal party has changed from when you originally recorded the introductions - or perhaps you are handed the microphone at the back of the line in the hallway and do it that way???
I think it is a bad idea BUT if a client wanted to do it I would but we have never yet had anyone ask....

We would like to thank Paula and her staff for working with us and the excellent service and personal touches that they provide to clients.
It is noted that although many DJ Services have done weddings at the Lodge, it is the policy of the Lodge not to recommend any DJ Service due to their internal policy:I have personally been involved in many many weddings at the Lodge and have many coming up there in the near future - recently I was booked for a 2009 wedding at the Lodge !
The Lodge is a wonderful setting and the whole ambience and food is 10 out of 10 !I continue to refer couples to the Lodge.

Friday July 4th took us to Traditions at Links where we did another wedding and ended with a firework display outside !
Rick the owner has expanded the facility and this makes for excellent transitions and plenty of space:
We coordinated the music for the Ceremony outside using our high tech wireless transmitter speaker system so there are no cords or trailing ugly wires and also was able to plant speakers outside for the firework music!
We recently purchased 3 sets of remote transmitter sets and are now able to run up to 6-12 remote speakers throughout any spaces without the need for cords or wires running under doors or through windows.

Saturday night took us to Buffalo and the Grand Ballroom at the Statler were we set up on a huge stage and did our famous up lighting - we gave out so many business cards we nearly ran out!
Unfortunately the Statler and Buffalo venues do something really strange and ask couples to cut the cake after introductions - this means that NONE of the guests will ever be able to view the cake or appreciate all the hard work that was put into it whereas if cut and presented after dinner it can be viewed before and during dinner:
The cake is over estimated in importance and more couples now are configuring the cake cutting differently using a unique technique - I found this new technique in NYC and passed it to my clients:
There is NEVER ANY Waste using the new technique - EVER:
There is NEVER any cake on tables or half eaten cake laying about using the new technique - EVER:
This new technique allows you to cut the cake after dinner and have ZERO waste -
Many venues try to turn the wedding cake into a desert - very strange:

To learn about this NEW technique you would have to be either one of our clients or be a prospective client as we do not publish our idea's and other techniques for others to mimic or copy - may sound silly to some but to us it means we remain cutting edge (no pun intended)

We do not know of anywhere - the knot, Fox TV or any wedding channel that knows about this new technique yet - this means it IS cutting edge !!

Arrived home at 5am Sunday morning!

Sunday July 6th for the Statler at Cornell University in Ithaca for the final wedding of 4 in a row !
Rick and Audrey are Doctors and we enjoyed immensely being involved in their special day with parents flying in from China.
The video montage was a huge hit !
We did our up lighting around the room and the wedding coordinator had never seen anything like it before - SEE PICTURES OF OUR UP LIGHTING ON OUR SYRACUSE PAGE:

Now for more rest !then another full weekend this weekend!

It's great to receive emails like this:
Emailed received 6/23/08

Hi Kevin,This is Kristin XXXXXX. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to meet with us and explain your services so thoroughly. I did contact some of your references, and you received raving reviews! (although I'm not surprised). I was also speaking with a family member that is the hotel manager for the Holiday Inn at Carrier Circle. He mentioned that you facilitated their New Years party and he was so impressed with your services that he booked you for next year immediately. After hearing so many incredible reviews we have gladly made the decision, and would love for you to be our DJ for the reception. Please send me the contract and whatever other paperwork we need. We look forward to working with you. Thank you again,Kristin XXXXXXX

Busy Weekend again for us!

Another busy weekend here in Upstate NY for us - with 5 events on yesterday!
Wedding at the Double Tree Syracuse
Wedding at Wellesley Island
Wedding at Crowne Plaza Rochester
Wedding at Belhurst Castle Geneva

And my wedding at Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster near Buffalo!!
The Lancaster country club is wonderful and the staff were great!
The staff commented how they had never seen a DJ service like ours before - we tend to get that a lot - What they mean by that I am unsure:

We always thank them kindly for their comments:I think what it may be is that most DJ services tend to be part time DJs (this does not mean they are less or full timers are better) and they tend to bring minimum equipment and tend not to really do more than they need to and are your typical chicken dance type DJ service:

Oh well, this forthcoming week I am doing a wedding in Lockport at a private estate on Friday and then a Mitzvah in Syracuse on Saturday with my other DJs on Friday also at:
Sheraton University Hotel Syracuse - wedding reception
Niagara Club Buffalo - wedding reception

and Saturday:
Linklaen House Cazenovia - wedding reception
Craftsman Inn, Syracuse - mitzvah
Ostaga Hotel, Cooperstown - wedding Reception
Drumlins Syracuse - mitzvah

Sunday
Wedding Reception at Charter House

Is there ANY time left in a day!!

Wedding Reception 05.30.08

The Manor, West Orange, New Jersey

The dj service provided by Kevin Colangelo was great. We received so many compliments on his quality service.

The video montage he created was simply amazing and we got so many compliments on his display.

I would highly recommend him to any of my friends or family. His setup is by far the best I've ever seen.

American Citizen !!

Well its finally arrived and now I am going to be officially a American Citizen !!

Having been in the USA for 9 years, and a green card holder, I am so delighted to become a citizen of the USA!

My father was from Arkansas while my mother from the UK:
I knew many years ago as a child as far back as I can remember that I felt a connection to the USA and after I found out I was adopted and then found my true background, and that I was actually a U.S. Citizen at birth by law through my father, I knew this was my destiny!

I am a proud American and will have joint citizenship of both USA and UK under the duel citizenship laws:
I will finally be home

Home Again!!

This coming weekend see's us at The NEW refurbished Traditions at Links - We are looking forward to seeing Rick the owner of Traditions and working the new huge space! We are doing a Bat Mitzvah while Jason our Office manager is off to the south again - Jason is in high demand and recently has several events in Manhattan NYC where the competition is high and you have to be the top of your game to even get a inquiry out of NYC as there are a lot of good DJs there:I am looking forward to my first ever event at the Waldorf Astoria in NYC !!More soon .................Please browse our website and see all the NEW photo's of events and recommendations and vendor comments openly for all to see with FULL approval of all the party's concerned - its essential to be bale to see CLEAR references and photos and media of a DJs work online, otherwise how else can you evaluate him or her?If there are no pictures/media or clear references visible without having to beg for them or go to secret pages to see them, then all we can say is - mmm!

Bar Mitzvah - Client thank you card !

Thank you for this kind gesture Renee!

Amazing Bar Mitzvah !!

We had the pleasure of being the entertainment at The Canfield Casino in Saratoga Springs recently and here are some photos from that incredible event with client comments

Incredible Weekend !!!

We are just winding down from a very busy weekend for KCPDJ's !

Jason was at Beardslee Castle on 5/31/08 for a wonderful wedding and reports back with nothing but praise for the staff and our good friend Lynn at Beardslee Castle as they are great caterers and hosts!
We are recommended to all brides and grooms that book with Beardslee Castle and thank our good friend Lyn(Owner and host) of Beardslee Castle for referring our service to so many couples who have booked our services for their upcoming weddings!

I was in New Jersey on Friday for Jason and Melissa's wedding ceremony and reception at the award winning venue The Manor in West Orange, NJ:
This was our first double screen montage video production as well as our DJ services for the reception and ceremony!

We produced and directed the montage video which in Jason's words was THE BEST I have ever seen with a great ending!

The ceremony went flawlessly outside and we continued the reception well into the night inside the crystal ballroom:

We thank Jimmy the Wedding Director at the Manor for recommending our services and our continued relationship into the future!

Then after arriving back in Syracuse at 6am on Saturday morning we then caught 5 hours sleep and drove south again to Traditions at the Glen in Johnson City for the Weiss Bat Mitzvah!
The whole room was lit up using our up lighting and many people commented on how they had never seen such great lighting before:

We have recently had many inquires from new clients regarding our up lighting even when they have already booked other DJ services and found us online and wanted the up lighting feature !

We have booked 4 events where we will be working alongside other DJ Services which will be very interesting, as we are supplying up lighting and additional effects as many DJs these days just do not have the equipment.
Up lighting be relatively new - only within the last 18 months has LED up lighting been on the market and available to DJs has not been utilized by many DJs as it should, and we have invested thousands of dollars in purchasing the best up lighting - of course there is the cheap LED lighting but that is not effective and hardly worth bothering with:
ALWAYS ask your DJ service to show you video or pictures of their effects or up lighting they have done in the past as if they cannot, then they probably have not done it or do not have the correct lighting - one thing is to say it - but where is the proof?..like anything, always ask for pictures or video of anything a DJ or anyone says they have - this way you have no illusions and can actually see what you are paying for:

Time for a rest but not for long as this weekend we have 2 on Friday - Welch Allyn and Belhurst Castle, then more on Saturday.........!!

Looking for a LARGE Banquet Facility In Syracuse?

On my recent visit to Traditions at the Links I was able to see the new enlarged Ballroom which my very good friend Rick the owner of Traditions had built:
Rick told me that the capacity could go as high as 400 - 500 and he was receiving bookings for the room well in advance!
I am booked for many upcoming events at the new Traditions myself and it will be interesting to see how it works with the extension.
Rick took notes a long time ago when I talked with him and installed additional power for the Bands and DJs to use which is great!
Traditions ballroom will give me plenty of opportunity to use my high tech LED up lighting like the pictures shown here on my blog to convert and enhance the space!
I will post pictures of the room with the up lighting when I am there for you to see as its always a great advantage for clients to see actual photos !
Here is a reminder of our up lighting - picture below

We are recommended by Rick the owner at Traditions and continue to receive many bookings for his excellent venue!

Kevin Colangelo in California !

I have been booked for an event in Tiberon South of San Francisco in 2009 at the Tiberon Yacht Club by a client who is a record producer in Los Angeles !
It is a very exciting prospect and I am honored to be selected to travel from New York to California in 2009 - July 2009:

I will be working with our California Office to coordinate the event and supply the equipment needed as the client requires very high end equipment, video screens etc:

It is increasingly apparent that I am personally being booked not just in other parts of NY but all over the USA !

It is with great pleasure and humbleness I am selected by clients in other States - most recently in Colorado, Ohio, New Jersy, Connecticut, Long Island, NYC, Minnesota, Maine, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and many more!

We also received our 3rd booking for 2010 - a Bar Mitzvah in Monroe County - the home of Orange County Choppers so another visit to see Paul Senior will be on the cards - I will get some pictures this time!

Anyway all for now

Observation...points to ponder

After working 24 hours a day meeting prospective clients, co coordinating our services, planning events and telephone calls as well as all the hundreds of email inquiries we receive each day, I do get time to write a little here!

We want to thank all the brides and grooms and other event clients for their continued well wishes and recommendations for our services to other new clients - at times our office seems like one couple in then out and another waiting - we are actually expanding our office space and will be acquiring a larger office premises with lounge area and plasma TV, with 3 offices and a display area showing some of our hi tech equipment and lighting;
We will also have a small recording studio where brides and grooms can listen to music, record messages and we can make special mixes of songs for them:

I have an appointment next week with the agent for the property in Fayetteville, and we are very excited about this expansion as we just cannot keep up with demand and require further space;
This weekend alone we have 8 KCPDJ's events locally and on June 28th our biggest day of the year we are into double figures !

We also want to remind clients that we are featured on Premiere Wedding Vendors free DVD's and these are available by going to

http://www.pwvsyracuse.com/vendors/disc_jockeys/kevin-colangelo/kevin-colangelo.htm

All for today......

Feedback from May 17th Bar Mitzvah Saratoga Springs!!

Hear is the email we just received this morning from another happy client !!

hi Kevin, I must tell you that everyone thought you were fabulous, the kids said it was the best bar mitzvah (meaning you) they had been to. Perfect amount of kids stuff and adult stuff. Jared was so happy, and the music was very important to him! That olympic entrance really was adorable, and you are right,,,better than let's get it started! And the American Idol contest was so much fun for everyone. Everyone got so quiet to hear those kids sing.I was walking around talking to people, and I wasn't always aware what was happening on the dance floor. I know it was a long trip for you!!! Thank you so much, I am sure that Jared would like to write to you as well, however he did have to go to school this morning!!!
Anyway, we are SO GRATEFUL to you and all of your hard work for this. Best,,Ronda Fein

Martha Stewart!

We are proud to be listed on Martha Stewarts Wedding Website !
A great site for brides to check out professional DJs and other vendors!

Sherwood Inn Skaneateles

Yet another inquiry for the Sherwood Inn in Skaneateles received tonight via our website - this is the 5th one in 10 days!
We are having so many inquires for this venue just lately!
We are happy to be associated with the Sherwood Inn and know them very well - we have several weddings booked there this year and next - excellent facilty and our pleasure to be doing receptions there!

Introducing our Uplighting for events

We recently purchased many new lighting effects including LED fixtures from Elation for uplighting which adds dynamic effect to your room for your reception or any event:

All acheived with uplighting by Kevin Colangelo

We are the only DJ service in Upstate NY to offer this NEW service for your event - we are continually looking for new and inovative ways to make your event better than ever!"

UPGRADE

We are thinking of upgrading our transport and will be meeting this week - if we get time with all the meetings we have scheduled with brides - the makers of RV Trucks to upgrade our transport for equipment to a larger vehicle:

Here is a picture of the suggested type:above

This will be used for Kevin Colangelo - myself;

Amazing!!!

We are now recommended by 47 venues across upstate NY !!
We added 3 further venues this weekend after 4 great events!
Next weekend Kevin Colangelo Premiere Disc Jockeys has 7 events in the Syracuse area alone!
On July 26th this year we have 14 weddings !!
Syracuse brides are realizing that Professional DJ Services of high quality and total customer commitment is what is required in these times - we continually run out of cards to give to people who attend the events we do and requests from banquet managers!
I think we ought to order 10,000 next time round!
We must be doing something right!
We now have 4 events booked in 2010!!!
This week is a very busy week with 14 potential brides visiting our office in Fayetteville to inquire about our services!
Should be a great week!

Bar Mitzvah Saratoga Springs May 17th 2008

Our trip to Saratoga Springs on Saturday - The Canfield Casino - a wonderful venue for weddings and other events:

We did a Bar Mitzvah for the Fein family and about 200 guests at this historical venue and the party was a huge success - the curator of the Casino asked for as many cards as we could give him - he said that he has never experienced a DJ Service as ours there before and will be recommending us to all future brides and people seeking a DJ service for their event there and recommends us highly - another great addition to our recommended by list of venues now recommending our services all over New York and beyond!

Caution......

After an exhausting weekend and rave reviews a friend emailed me about a website called kevincolangelodj.com and another one also - it seems as if some other DJ service locally in Syracuse deems it fit to register domain names and make website's with our Company names in and also mimicking our other website's.....seems a lot of this is going on recently, however not illegal as there are many DJs with the same name, company name or similar names across the world, it seems the only concern I have is if the domain name has a website attached to it and the website is live and has some conflicting or incorrect information on it or is purely aimed at confusing the potential clientele, or is aimed at trying to discredit a DJ Service....the registering of domain names goes on all the time and people buy and sell domain names for gain, therefore sometimes people buy domain names to sell to a Company at profit at as later date - buying domain names is one thing, but then making a actual website with the domain name is totally a different matter

CLIENT REVIEW May 6th 2008

Review for May 3rd 2007 Bat Mitzvah Albany New York

Hi Kevin:
From the service, to the party, we could not have asked for a better Bat Mitzvah celebration. Robyn and I have been involved in running a lot of events over the years and we always aim at hiring the best people who compliment each other. We are very thankful to the Carr's who recommended you as you are clearly one of those people. The caterer (Franklin Plaza) who has been in business for years and a very high profile caterer in our area commented that they have never seen a light show like yours. Your setup also looked great with all the equipment on stage.
Jessica was thrilled!
We never compare ourselves to others but some of our friends commented that our party will be hard to compare.
Thanks again and we hope to see you in the future.
Ed and Robyn

Albany Saturday May 3rd

What a great Bat Mitzvah we did last night at Temple Beth Emeth in Albany - we were set up on a proper stage with back drop, full stage curtains and great projection:We had about 200 guests and the caterer was a top professional from the area Hamilton Catering:The owner said he had been in business for 30 years and seen DJ Services charging $9000 from NYC and NJ and Kevin Colangelo DJ's were 30 times better than he had ever seen - WOW I was taken back - I did not expect that reaction - we did a lot of interaction on stage with Jessica the Bat Mitzvah girl on stage dancing and singing with our dancers!..I actually did my live rap and people loved it - I have never danced on stage for so long myself in a log time - we had children front of stage going crazy as we pumped the adults and kids up with dance versions unlike you have heard before - we did Amarillo and many other sing along songs - the food was presented very well and the whole experience - 5 hours incredible - footage of the whole party including our 4 hour sound and light set up will be forwarded to me soon...cannot wait to see it!........We find we are being asked out of state more and more with recent B' Mitzvahs in Ohio, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York City!...we arrived home at 4am this morning! ...then today it was off to the Turning Stone Casino to meet with 2 couples having their reception there - new clients - (thank you Turning Stone Casino for referring so many brides to us!!!)....then back to the office for a 5pm meeting with new clients for their wedding in 2009 at the Wyndham now the Double Tree in Syracuse....a 300 guest reception !!!!!!!...wow what a busy weekend..we also had 4 other events on Saturday - one in Herkimer, one at Turning Stone and 2 in Syracuse !!!..next weekend we have 3 B' Mitzvahs and 5 wedding receptions and more on Sunday...how many hours are there in a day?......seems like I need 48 hours in one day to fit in everything we do...our Syracuse office is expanding and we are employing 2 more office personal to handle the volume of inquiries and customer service for clients already booked with us !!!!...time for a short rest I think....:)

Its YOUR day!

What a pleasure it was meeting 14 bride and grooms this week!We seem to be meeting with more and more couples requiring professional top quality services more than ever before. It is nice to meet couples and make them feel at ease from the start of our meeting, as we always tell them before the meeting that we never ever accept deposits or present them with a contract at a meeting and this seems to make them comfortable in the fact that they are meeting us to discuss their day, and not there to hear some sales pitch, or how quint essential it is to book a disc jockey for their special day because the disc jockey they are meeting has some huge ego about himself being the 'best' there is in the Syracuse area. So many times we have met with couples and referred them to other DJ Services in the Syracuse and surrounding area's and always make a valid point to everyone we meet that there are many good services out there, but finding the right one is the trick - so many people select a DJ based on price and think that a DJ who charges less - is cheaper than another DJ is a good deal - this is not the case as study's have shown that the MORE you pay for entertainment the better result you get. Its not about how much lighting a DJ has ( we do not charge extra for anything), or how many superstars, Mayor's, Presidents or dignitaries he has met or been photographed with - that means nothing - many DJ's fail to see that a bride and groom are meeting with them to hear what is offered and the quality of what is being offered but more so these days couples are looking for difference and control.

We pride ourselves in our music database which is in the region of 250,000 songs - yes really - a quarter of a million - and that is available for all our couples to select their music from:

We do not prance about with silly hats on or do we ask you to do our job for us - we know of some services that want you to do the introductions of the bridal party - pre recorded of course - but this in our option is lame and you can never predict how introductions can evolve on your day and more often than not things change and brides and grooms do not have public speaking voices or are shy or simply do not want to do it - we feel a proper master of ceremonies is the person to facilitate this important structure within his duty at your reception;

Whatever YOU want we will give you at no extra charges or conditions but most importantly these days you will find that setting a entertainment budget at the $800 and above figure will surely secure a top quality DJ service for your reception and anything below that is bound to have elements or something missing - after all why would one be cheaper?
Good service and good talent and planning are not expensive but lack of planning and low quality will cost you more money in the long run as booking low cost services will reflect in the value of your entire reception budget which could run into many thousands - its a gamble - do I book a DJ for a few hundred dollars or even try the ipod idea myself say a couple?..do I risk wasting all the money we have invested in our reception - say $15,000 or do we book a proper professional quality DJ?
The answer is simple but what is the line you go to - how do you make a judgement?
Meet with 2-4 Disc Jockeys personally and compare what they offer, and check references not of banquet managers but ask for references from past bride and grooms they have done weddings for as a couple who have now had their reception many months ago will tell you exactly what the entertainment was like and exactly the value of it:

Just some thoughts from us......good luck !

Wedding Reception Harrys Harbor Buffalo 19th April 2008

We had the pleasure of being at this wonderful venue again and just received these commnets from the bride and groom -THANKYOU !

Let me just say that Kevin Colangelo was the best DJ I have ever seen. I have been to plenty of weddings and other events that had DJ's, and never have I made or heard a comment about how good the DJ was. At my wedding, I had at least 20 people come up to me and ask where I found him, and how amazing he was. While the service cost more than the other DJ services I checked out, it was well worth the money and Kevin was excellent to work with.Kevin was very professional and is extremely knowledgable about weddings. He had numerous suggestions to make our wedding better and we used many of them. Most DJs show up and play. Kevin helped us get the most out of our wedding. He showed up 5 hours before the reception to set up and has extremely high quality equipment.Kevin was wonderful to work with during the wedding, he played everything that was requested and had a great suprise song for the finale.I would highly recommend Kevin Colangelo DJs for your next event.

Announcing NEW PROMO VIDEO in production !!!

We have now been able to find the most AMAZING graphic artist and video producer this side of the world and he is now meeting with us later tomorow at our office to discuss idea's for our NEW cutting edge promotional video which will feature AMAZING graphics and camera tricks NEVER seen before on DJ Promo videos! We will be starting work on the new video shortly and will also have a mitzvah video and general video produced:This is cutting edge stuff and will be exclusive to Kevin Colangelo DJs and not available to any other services; We are the true leaders in cutting edge and out of the box idea's - many other services are out there and continue to copy our idea's and impliment our techniques - we are flattered that other services copy us.And as we proudly say - There can only be one original but as the watch industry has shown there will always be the cheap lookalikes and fakes:

National Association of Mobile Entertainers

It is an honor to be a member of the National Association of Mobile
Entertainers - the only National DJ association in America that actually checks it members and verifies that they are up to a certain standard, whereas no other DJ association does this:
I have recently applied for exclusive Endorsed Entertainer status with the association:
Here is the link to N.A.M.E.
http://www.nameentertainers.com/dj-certification

NAME promotes high standards in the industry and is the ONLY National DJ association that does not accept all applications from DJ's whereas other organizations accept anyone that pays them a fee:
Therefore when seeking DJs who proclaim to be members of a Association remember that NAME is the ONLY one that actually does checks, and has acceptance criteria and does not accept just anyone for a fee:
Name has conventions and meetings all over the USA to promote high standards and for me cannot be touched by any other organization:

Picture Infinity Photography of Syracuse

It was a pleasure to meet with Matt and Sara of Picture Infinity today at my Syracuse office:

Picture Infinity absolutely blew me away with the quality and innovating idea's!I had the pleasure of browsing albums and new concepts put forth by Matt and Sara for photography work and I can tell you that if anyone is cutting edge then Matt and Sara are just that and more!

We had the pleasure of working with them at a wedding a while ago and look forward to working with them again many times in the future as we are now recommending them as first choice to all of our clients needing near close to perfection but absolute innovation and out of the box idea's.
Matt and Sara are so talented that I would say they are our American Idols in Syracuse by sure the winners in their field of design and artistry:

There are many fine photographers each with a different style and I recommend many when asked by clients:Matt and Sara were kind enough to meet at my office and furnish me with portfolio and business cards with mine in return:I hope to receive a wonderful photo book from them to show my clients in the future:I am so excited to be working with them in the future and cannot wait to see their new idea's unfold and would certainly say they are diamonds in the rough!

Colorado Wedding 3.29.08

Kevin Colangelo was selected to be the entertainment for a wedding in Colorado some 27 hour drive from Syracuse New York!
Aaron and Janelle inquired about Kevin Colangelo personally for their event and opted to have Kevin travel to Colorado at no expense spared to make their day special in many ways:
Aaron is a flight Lt in the American Air Force stationed in Iraq, and many Military dignitaries were in attendance:
It was a pleasure to drive to Colorado and be with Aaron and Janelle for their special day and a pleasure to work with the staff at The Devils Thumb Ranch!
Thank you for a wonderful experience!
